Taxi Prices in Gran Canaria: Airport & South Coast Board Guide

Approximate taxi fares from Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) to the Mogán south-coast strip run from about €59 to Arguineguín up to about €77 daytime to Puerto de Mogán on the Taxi Mogán guide board at the Puerto Rico taxi stop in Puerto Plata, a hotel and apartment area high in Puerto Rico (not a separate town), with night rates a little higher. Official airport taxis still run on the meter (plus the airport supplement); the board is an approximate cooperative guide, not a fixed ticket price.

Gran Canaria Airport sits on the east coast. Most holiday traffic goes south toward the Maspalomas-Puerto Rico–Mogán strip. A metered daytime taxi from the signed terminal rank is the simplest door-to-door option if you are not taking a pre-booked transfer or the public bus. For wider island planning, see our Gran Canaria travel guide.

Official tariff (meter)

Aena publishes the regulated meter components for taxis at Gran Canaria Airport. There is no official fixed fare list by destination: the taximeter (plus supplements) sets the total. Figures below are taken from Aena’s Gran Canaria taxi pages (English and Spanish), checked 26 September 2026:

  • Flag-down (start of journey): daytime 06:00-22:00 €3.85; night 22:00-06:00 €4.25; holidays 06:00-22:00 €4.25; Christmas period (24 and 31 December, 5 January, from 22:00 to midnight the following day) €6.54
  • Per kilometre: daytime €1.35; night / holidays / Christmas period €1.55
  • Waiting or stopped time: €18.50 per hour
  • Airport supplement: €2.10 per journey

Always use the signed taxi rank at the passenger terminal, avoid unsolicited offers elsewhere, and ask for a receipt if you need to complain. Official taxis are white with a green stripe/light. Aena does not list a separate luggage charge on the airport taxi page; any other displayed legal supplements follow the tariff in force in the vehicle.

Taxi Mogán approximate fare board (airport ↔ south coast)

At the taxi stop labelled “Taxi Stop Puerto Rico Puerto Plata” (Puerto Plata is a hotel and apartment area high in Puerto Rico, not a separate town; the board says “YOU ARE HERE = Puerto Rico”) Taxi Mogán displays an approximate fare board for journeys to and from the airport and along the Mogán coast. The board itself says prices are approximate and may vary on 24 December, 31 December and 5 January. Treat the figures as a cooperative planning guide. The live meter (and any legal supplements) still decide what you pay.

Day / night guide fares from the board’s Aeropuerto column (same figures typically apply both directions):

Puerto de Mogán€77€87
Taurito€73.50€83.50
Playa del Cura€69€77

Maspalomas, Meloneras and San Agustín airport fares are not clearly readable on this Mogán board, so they are omitted from the main table. For Playa del Inglés and the broader Maspalomas strip, rely on the meter and any soft planning notes below rather than inventing board figures.

Local fares from Puerto Rico (same board)

Useful day / night guides from the Puerto Rico row on the same board (not airport trips): Puerto de Mogán €20.50 / €23.50; Taurito €17.50 / €20.50; Arguineguín €13.50 / €15.50; Palmitos Park €39.50 / €45.50; Playa del Inglés €33.50 / €38; Las Palmas €103 / €121.

How this compares with resident Facebook tips

Earlier daytime airport→resort guides shared in a Gran Canaria Facebook group by people who live on the island sat in a similar neighbourhood for the places the board covers well. Puerto de Mogán’s night board figure (€87) matches the FB ~€87 daytime tip for that resort; Puerto Rico on the board (~€71 Alto / €67.50 Bajo daytime) sits close to the FB ~€75 ballpark; Amadores (~€70 board vs ~€75 FB), Taurito (~€73.50 vs ~€82) and Arguineguín (~€59 vs ~€64) are in the same rough band. Where the board does not clearly show Maspalomas / Meloneras / San Agustín airport fares, do not treat older FB tips for those stops as board-confirmed. Use them only as soft planning notes if at all.

Practical tips

  • Use the official taxi rank outside arrivals rather than unsolicited offers inside the terminal.
  • Have the hotel name and area ready (for example Puerto Rico vs Bajo, or Amadores vs Taurito).
  • Expect higher totals at night and on the board’s flagged dates (24 Dec, 31 Dec, 5 Jan), and allow for waiting time or a larger vehicle.
  • For lower cost, compare a shared or private pre-booked transfer and the public bus where schedules fit your flight.

Bottom line

Official LPA taxis are meter-based: daytime flag-down €3.85 plus €1.35/km, night/holiday rates a little higher, plus a €2.10 airport supplement. As an approximate Mogán-coast planning guide from the Taxi Mogán board, airport one-ways toward Arguineguín sit around €59 daytime and toward Puerto de Mogán around €77 daytime / €87 night. Verify against the live meter. There is no official fixed destination price list.

Approximate destination guides in the main table come from the Taxi Mogán fare board photographed at the Puerto Rico taxi stop on 11 January 2025 (InfoVacay photo). The board states prices are approximate. Soft Facebook comparison notes above are resident-reported daytime tips from a Gran Canaria group, described in prose only, not a published official table. Aena remains the primary legal source for the airport meter tariff.
